Bitterroot River Fishing Report. February 19, 2016

The fishing has been pretty darn good by most reports on the river in the last few weeks. The warmer than average temps have helped out the fishing. The standard nymph fare has been producing and the streamer game has been heating up as well. The recent rains have bumped the flows a bit but not enough to spoil the party.

Consider using some out of the box nymphs this time of year. Firebeads, eggs, scuds, and other "non traditional" bugs can produce some good results. The sneaky deadwater sloughs, back channels and other froggy water spots can give up big browns as well this time of year. You might strike out but hey, you might just get the fish of day in these weird locations.
